Jaguar X-type FAQ
With proper maintenance, a Jaguar X-type can last for 150,000 to 200,000 miles or more.
Because the X-type is an all-wheel drive vehicle, proper fluid changes are important for the longevity of the transfer case. We've kept this car well maintained, and never had engine problems or leaks with the transfer case.

I don't even know why being based on a Mondeo is considered a bad thing If anything, that's reassuring, and the Ford engines have been working for Jaguar nicely, even in the XF diesel
@LairdDeimos
My Contour, the American branded Mondeo, is a few months older than me and works fine.
he X-Type didn't sell well originally - it was aimed at the upper end (but obvs not the top end) of the company car market - and while there was strong competition from Audi A3s, Series 3 Beemers, and the C Class Merc - the X-Type was a good bit cheaper and was based on a platform that fleet managers had absolute trust in for years. Putting Jaguar styling and trim on a tried and tested bombproof Ford undercarriage seems like an absolute no-brainer to me.
